This Minecraft mod Wild update will introduce fireflies, delightful creatures made of two pixels. These charming creatures are designed to enhance the ambience of the new Mangrove Swamp biome. Originally, the main purpose of fireflies was as a food source for frogs. However, Mojang has found that eating fireflies is harmful to real-life frogs, and they don't want to promote practices that are harmful to these amphibians. At this time, it is still uncertain whether fireflies will be added to the game. Still, by downloading this add-on, you can still enjoy the presence of fireflies in your world, even if they can't be eaten by frogs. Their presence will undoubtedly add atmospheric beauty to your Minecraft experience.
Fireflies will naturally spawn in forest biomes and swamps. They are only visible at night and will despawn during the day. To catch fireflies, you need to interact with the center of their swarm using an empty bottle. Each firefly is not a separate entity, so capturing them requires precision. Once you have a bottle of fireflies, you can craft a firefly lantern by substituting a torch with the bottle of fireflies in the lantern recipe.
If fireflies become bothersome, there are several ways to get rid of them. You can catch them in a bottle, "break" the center to kill them, spawn a bat to consume them, or choose to delete your world if you never want to see them again. (I don't recommend the last option)
Please note that when catching or killing fireflies, it may take a few seconds for all the bugs to despawn.
